Gala Weekend 2004
Friday 18th - Sunday 20th June, 2004
The weather was
not quite as hot as last year, with some rain at varous times over
the 3 days, but the Gala Weekend was a great success with lots of
fun enjoyed by many thanks to a lot of hard work by the organisers
and volunteers.
On Friday night
there was a family ceilidh, on Saturday there was the Gala Extravaganza
in the afternoon followed by a Karaoke, then on Sunday Ardgowan Football
Development ran an Open Day.

Friday 18th June
Family Ceilidh - 7.30pm to 11.30pm
- Ceilidh including buffet supper, live music and licensed bar.
- Music provided by "The Midgies".

Saturday 19th June
Gala Extravaganza from 12noon.
Karaoke competition on Saturday night.
Events and attractions included
the following:
- Crowning of Gala Queen. At 12noon the Gala Queen, Nicole,
was crowned by local councillor Eric Forbes, who also performed the opening ceremony.
- DJ. The day was compared by Stewart 'in constant
demand' MacPherson.
- Old Crocks v Boca juniors match at 12pm.
- Barbecue courtesy of Liz Canning and team.
- Variety of rides and stalls for young and old.
- Laser Quest inflatable ride.
- Bungee Runner. Test your strength on the Bungee Runner.
- Jewellery Stall - Brownies.
- Spin-a-Game - Brownies.
- Rodeo Bull - how long can you hold out?
- Beat the keeper. A magazine signed by Julian
Speroni, the Dundee goalkeeper, along with a small trophy, was
awarded to Scott who won the penalty competition.
- Bouncy Castle.
- Various displays from local groups.
- Pie & bovril stall by Ardgowan Football Development.
- Face painting.
- Teas and refreshments.
- Bottle stall - Brownies.
- Woodland Association - The Association took part
in the Gala with a suitably natural theme. They sold a wide
variety of pocket-money toys which are either made of wood or have
an animal theme.
- Jungle Treasure Hunt. In addition the Woodland Association
ran a Jungle Treasure Hunt.
- Beer tent.
- Karaoke competition on Saturday night.

Sunday 20th June
Ardgowan FD Open Day
11.30am-4.00pm
Program as follows:
- Parade. The day was to “kick-off” at 11.30am
when over 120 children would parade out into the park where the
day was officially opened by David McGregor of Morton.
- Skills demonstration and presention. The children then
demonstrated their skills to their parents and friends, before being presented
with their certificates and medals for the 2003/4 season. The presentation
was carried out by David McGregor who stood with the aid of crutches
in a packed marquee presenting all 120 kids with their honours.
- Food and refreshments were available.
- Matches. ATFC took on 1st Touch 10's, 12's in four 20
minute games. All games were hard fought with 1st touch winning
all four.
Ardgowan Football Development would like to thank all who have helped
and sponsored the club over the past year. In particular thanks are
extended to all parent helpers and wives for their support and time
given - without them such a successful development programme
would be impossible.
