Stuart McMillan MSP (SNP, West of Scotland) has today (Tuesday) encouraged people of Inverclyde, especially those vulnerable groups of people, to obtain the seasonal flu jab.
Three groups of people are entitled to free seasonal flu vaccinations: Those aged 65 years of age and over; Those with a medical condition which puts them in an 'at risk' group and NHS healthcare staff.
Mr McMillan said, "It's important that people in Inverclyde take the necessary steps to obtain the seasonal flu jab.
"GP practices will now start inviting patients, holding flu clinics and publicising their programmes. Alongside this, a separate vaccination campaign will begin in the next few weeks to vaccinate people against the H1N1 pandemic flu virus.
"I would urge everyone entitled to receive a vaccination to ensure they come forward as this is the easiest way to protect yourself and others."
