Stuart McMillan MSP SNP has today (Thursday) welcomed the passing of the Alcohol (Minimum Pricing) (Scotland) Bill in the Scottish Parliament.
The Bill seeks to create a mechanism whereby the Government can set a price below which alcohol cannot be sold at.
Speaking after the passing of the legislation, Stuart McMillan MSP said, "The passing of the Alcohol (Minimum Pricing) (Scotland) Bill is an important step in combating Scotland's problem with alcohol.
"Alcohol is a serious national health problem that must be tackled and it has a significant impact on the health of our nation and is a particular strain on the economy.
"I fully recognise that minimum unit pricing is not a 'silver bullet' but the SNP Government are taking, and will continue to take, a range of measures to tackle Scotland's alcohol problem.
"Nevertheless, I hope the measures we have passed in the Scottish Parliament today send a clear message that Scotland can and must address its problem with alcohol consumption."
