Wemyss Bay man Billy Somerville, 29, a Royal Navy Reservist, has been commended for outstanding service at a ceremony at Paisley Town Hall.
Petty Officer Somerville has served for 11 years in the reserves and is a logistics specialist.
He helped in counter-piracy operations in the Horn of Africa in 2009 and received a certificates of "Meritorious Service" at the ceremony along with three other reservists from HMS Dalriada in Greenock.
HMS Dalriada is home to over 70 Reservists from all over the West Coast of Scotland and is currently based at Navy Buildings in Greenock.
Reservists come from all walks of life and their Naval careers, which fit around their civilian occupations and family lives, provide them with specialist training, sport, adventurous training and plenty of opportunities to travel. Billy works as a Warehouse Assistant at RNAD Coulport during the day.
HMS Dalriada is recruiting now. Males and females aged 18 to 40 (45 years if ex-Royal Navy) should call 0845 075555 for more information.
Well done Billy!
